More than 20 people have reportedly been killed and several others injured after armed men launched a midnight attack on Binper community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly began around midnight on Monday and continued into the early hours of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, leaving residents in panic and several families searching for missing relatives.
According to reports, the attackers, who were said to be heavily armed, moved through the community and broke into homes while residents were asleep.
An eyewitness, Daniel Musa, told journalists that the assailants operated for several hours, targeting residents inside their houses.
Musa said more than 20 deaths had been confirmed by Tuesday morning, while several other residents sustained injuries and some remained unaccounted for.
The latest incident has heightened security concerns in Mangu and other communities regarded as vulnerable to attacks across Plateau State.
