The family of late Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced details of the remaining programmes for the completion of his burial rites.
Ogogo died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026. His death was announced by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko.
The actor was buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24.
Several colleagues, friends and associates from the entertainment industry attended the burial, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko and Femi Adebayo.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Kosoko, who made the announcement on behalf of the family, said the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the deceased would be held on Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.
The family also announced an Artists’ Day to honour Ogogo, which will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro.
According to Kosoko, the event will serve as a traditional tribute from members of the entertainment industry and will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers.
He said the programme would be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
“On behalf of the family of our late colleague, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, a.k.a. Ogogo, I have the mandate of the family to express our profound appreciation to everyone who turned out en masse for his burial on Monday, 24th August 2026,” Kosoko stated.
He urged Ogogo’s friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to continue supporting the family and attend the Fidau prayer in large numbers.
Kosoko also appealed to attendees to join the family in praying for the peaceful repose of the late actor and for Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The veteran actor expressed appreciation to those who attended Ogogo’s burial, describing their presence as a demonstration of the love and respect they had for the deceased.
Ogogo’s death has generated widespread tributes from colleagues and fans, many of whom have highlighted his contributions to the development of Yoruba-language cinema.
He began his acting career in the early 1980s and went on to become a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry as an actor, producer and filmmaker.
