YoLa Fresh, a Moroccan agritech startup launched in early 2023, has secured $7 million in pre-Series A funding aimed at revolutionizing the fresh produce supply chain in Morocco.
The company’s mission is to connect smallholder farmers directly with traditional retailers, cutting out unnecessary middlemen and inefficiencies.
This strategy ensures fairer prices for farmers and provides retailers with fresher, higher-quality produce.
In its first year, YoLa Fresh has already partnered with over 1,000 retailers and achieved a monthly gross merchandise volume (GMV) of $1 million.
Inspired by similar successful models in other developing countries, YoLa Fresh plans to use the $7 million investment to further expand its reach and impact.
The funding will focus on several key areas: developing a robust logistics network to ensure efficient and timely delivery of produce, enhancing its digital platform to streamline communication and transactions between farmers and retailers, and expanding its team to support ambitious growth plans.
YoLa Fresh’s vision extends beyond Morocco, with aspirations to address food security challenges and foster economic growth across Africa.
The success of this funding round positions YoLa Fresh as a significant player in Africa’s growing agritech sector.
By addressing critical issues in the agricultural supply chain, YoLa Fresh aims to make a substantial impact on the lives of farmers, retailers, and consumers throughout the continent.
