Pastor Luka Levong of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) in Kwari, Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe state, along with five others, fell victim to a raid from Boko Haram insurgents.
The assailants attacked the community at 2am on Friday, targeting Pastor Levong and the church treasurer, Maina Abdullahi, among others.
AAN TV gathered that the attackers killed the victims in their separate houses before security forces arrived. Multiple houses, a church, and vehicles were set ablaze.
Both the military and Nigerian Police Force have yet to comment on the incident. Geidam is located 177 kilometres from Damaturu, the state capital, and is approximately 40 kilometres from the Nigeria/Niger Republic border.
This incident follows a recent Boko Haram attack in a neighbouring Yobe State community, where 12 people were killed and two others injured in the Gartamawa area of Chibok Local Government Area, situated 125 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Since the emergence of the Boko Haram insurgency in 2009, over 40,000 individuals have lost their lives, and over two million have been forced to flee their homes. The insurgency has extended into Chad, Niger, and Cameroon, leading to the establishment of a regional military force to combat the militants.
