Three business owners were shot inside a popular fast food outlet in Johannesburg’s inner city on Monday morning, in yet another incident of rising gun violence in the area.
The shooting occurred in Ward 59, where local councillor Sthembiso Hlatshwayo says violent crime has become frequent, with residents and business owners increasingly living in fear.

Hlatshwayo described the situation as alarming, noting that multiple shootings have taken place in the same street within hours. He said at least four people had been shot in the area in a short period, with some fatalities reported.

He called for urgent intervention from law enforcement agencies, stressing that the escalating violence is making the precinct unsafe for both residents and businesses.
Police are expected to investigate the latest incident as concerns grow over public safety in the Johannesburg inner city.
