Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja has granted bail in the sum of ₦10 billion to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who is facing charges including conspiracy to commit money laundering and possession of proceeds of criminal conduct.

In a ruling on Mamman’s bail application, Justice Omotosho stipulated that the bail conditions include two sureties who must each possess properties in Abuja valued at a minimum of ₦750 million. The sureties are also required to submit certified land documents and three years’ tax clearance.

Alternatively, Mamman can provide a bank guarantee for the bail amount. The court further mandated the submission of bank statements and international passports by the defendant.

The case has been adjourned to September 25, 2024, for the commencement of trial. This decision follows Mamman’s remand in Kuje prison, Abuja, after pleading not guilty to charges of laundering over ₦33 billion and acquiring properties through proxies as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
