Seth Mayi scored a goal in each half to help Remo Stars secure a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League side, Ikorodu City, to win the 2024 Value Jet Cup on Wednesday in Ikenne.

Mayi headed Remo Stars into the lead in the 26th minute and doubled the advantage in the 68th minute by converting a rebound. Ikorodu City’s Otaniyi Taofeek managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time.
Both teams entered the final with high adrenaline, having overcome challenging opponents in the semi-finals.

The match’s intensity was evident from the start, with Ikorodu City’s goalkeeper Yusuf Rauf making a crucial save against Remo’s Ibrahim Abubakar in the ninth minute.

This tournament served as Ikorodu City’s first major test ahead of their NPFL debut next season, pitting their top players and new recruits against teams such as Rivers United, Remo Stars, 3SC, and Sudanese Champions Al-Merreikh.

With this victory, Remo Stars have claimed the first pre-season tournament ahead of the 2024/25 NPFL season, earning a prize of N5 million. They are set to participate in the Coal City Cup, which begins today in Enugu.
