The Nigerian Police have announced the arrest of foreign nationals suspected of sponsoring protests featuring the Russian flag in various parts of the country. Police Commissioner Salman Garba disclosed this development following a security meeting with Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf on Tuesday.
Commissioner Garba emphasized that the police, alongside other security agencies, will take strict measures against anyone attempting to compromise the state’s security. He also announced the further relaxation of the curfew, now set from 6 am to 6 pm.
The #EndBadGovernance protests against hardship and hunger took a dramatic turn on Monday, as protesters in some Northern states displayed the Russian flag while chanting “Tinubu must go.” The act has sparked widespread reactions, with human rights activists and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana, as well as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Mustapha, condemning it as a treasonable offense.
