Edo Queens, the female football club owned by Edo State, has clinched the title of CAF Women’s League WAFU B Qualifiers champions.

Edo Queens completed the championship undefeated, dominating the group stages, defeating Inter FC in the semifinals, and securing a 3-0 victory over Ainonvi FC of Benin Republic in the final to emerge as champions.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State congratulated the team, praising their determination, skillful play, and commitment. He expressed pride in their achievement, noting, “I congratulate our ladies for their outstanding performance. They have made us proud by becoming champions of the CAF Women’s League WAFU B Qualifiers.”

Governor Obaseki also highlighted the state’s commitment to gender equality in sports, stating, “For the past eight years, we have ensured equal pay with their male counterparts as a motivation. This victory is a testament to that decision. I urge the team to continue their impressive form and replicate this success at the CAF Women’s Champions League.”
