Nigeria’s celebrated music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, known as the “Elegant Stallion,” will be buried on Friday (today) in Lagos.

The artist died on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing at an event honouring Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

She was 72 years old.

The funeral service, as announced by the family, will take place at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi, CKN News reports.

Also, a funeral flyer stated that the Service of Songs is scheduled for 10 -12 noon while the burial, 2-4pm.

Onyeka Onwenu was not only a gifted musician with numerous hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.

She is survived by her two sons.
