China has signed multiple agreements with Chad and Senegal involving projects ranging from electricity and infrastructure to drinking water and communications technology at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing, the countries’ presidencies said on Wednesday.
As the world’s largest bilateral lender, China is shifting its focus towards smaller, more sustainable projects in line with President Xi Jinping’s “small and beautiful” approach.
Chad has signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Chinese companies, covering energy, water, agriculture, infrastructure, and defense.

These agreements include improving access to electricity and drinking water in N’Djamena, building an international airport, and reinforcing sanitation and military capabilities.
Senegal, too, has entered into several agreements with China, focusing on information and communications technology, green development, and media.
Furthermore, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced an unconditional donation of 27 billion CFA francs ($45.80 million) to Senegal.
These agreements underscore China’s commitment to Africa and its role in driving economic growth and development on the continent.
