Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, is set to make history as one of the headliners of the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup final halftime show, scheduled for July 13, 2025, at the MetLife Stadium in New York.
Joining Tems on stage for the landmark performance are Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and American pop icon Doja Cat, forming a powerhouse global lineup for the inaugural show. The event will be produced by international advocacy organization Global Citizen and will be broadcast live and free on DAZN.com, giving fans across the globe front-row access to the spectacle.
Tems expressed her excitement ahead of the performance, highlighting the show’s deeper purpose of using music to unite the world and drive positive change. “We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,” she said. “I can’t wait. See you at the FIFA Club World Cup final!”
According to Muyiwa Awoniyi, a member of Tems’ management team, the performance marks a historic milestone as it will be FIFA’s first-ever halftime show during a competition.
“Pleased to announce that @temsbaby will be performing at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium,” Awoniyi wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “A huge thank you to FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen Co-Founder and CEO Hugh Evans. This is the first-ever halftime show in a FIFA competition, and we are proud and honoured to be a part of it.”
The event serves as a platform for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise over $100 million in support of global education initiatives, particularly the FIFA Football for Schools program active in over 200 countries. As part of the initiative, $1 from every ticket sold for the tournament will go directly to the fund.
In a statement on its website, Global Citizen noted: “The FIFA Club World Cup Final will feature a live halftime show produced by Global Citizen. With performances from artists across Africa, South America, and North America, this event reflects our core belief: that music and unity can help solve the world’s greatest challenges.”
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is set to be the biggest edition yet, featuring expanded participation from elite football clubs and drawing a massive global audience.
