Nigerian boxer, Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole experienced the first loss of her professional career, falling to New Zealand’s Lani Daniels by unanimous decision in their IBF women’s light-heavyweight title fight at Claudelands Arena, Hamilton, on Saturday night.

Daniels retained her IBF title with a commanding performance, as the judges scored the fight 100-90, 97-93, and 98-92 in her favor after 10 intense rounds.

The defending champion’s experience shone through as she outboxed the previously undefeated Oluwole. Despite entering the bout with a perfect record of nine wins, including five knockouts, Oluwole was unable to match Daniels’ speed and tactical expertise.

Oluwole had trained extensively for the fight, hoping to secure her first world title. However, Daniels, who came into the fight with 10 wins, two losses, and two draws, used her home advantage and experience to keep Oluwole at bay with precise jabs and well-timed counters.

The 36-year-old Daniels, buoyed by the support of the local crowd, showed her sharp focus and retained her belt with a dominant display.

For Oluwole, this defeat is a significant moment in her career. At just 22 years old, she still has a promising future in boxing despite this setback. Fans will be eager to see how she rebounds from this loss, especially after demonstrating resilience in her early career.

Daniels, with this successful title defense, solidifies her position at the top of the light-heavyweight division. Despite Oluwole’s loss, her performance against the two-time IBF world champion should be viewed as a valuable learning experience. The Nigerian national champion has been making waves in the division, and this setback may fuel her motivation for future challenges.
