The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the Group D second-leg fixture of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights from its schedule.

The match, originally set to take place in Libya at 8 p.m., was the return leg following Nigeria’s narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday.
However, controversy surrounded the return leg after the Super Eagles recounted a 14-hour ordeal at a Libyan airport, which led to their decision to return home.

CAF has since launched an investigation into the incident. The Libyan Football Federation denied wrongdoing and hinted at legal action against Nigeria. CAF’s updated Tuesday match schedule did not include the Libya vs. Nigeria game.
Further details are expected.
