At least ten people have tragically lost their lives, and seven others have been rescued following a building collapse in the early hours of Thursday at Jegede Olorunsogo, located in Ona Ara Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Oyo State Fire Services. Reverend Akinyemi Akinyinka, the agency’s General Manager, confirmed receiving distress calls from residents in the neighborhood around that time.
“Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a distress call at approximately 2 a.m. regarding a building collapse in the Jegede Olunloyo area of Ibadan,” he said. “So far, we have recovered ten bodies from the debris, and seven people have been rescued alive. Rescue operations are ongoing.”
Emergency responders continue to work at the scene in hopes of finding more survivors among the rubble.
