Nigeria and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi has expanded his foray into music with the release of his second single, “What’s Luv?” following the success of his debut track, “Don’t Shoot,” which marked him as the first Premier League player to officially drop music.
In his new release shared on his social media Thursday, Iwobi celebrates African culture by fusing Afro-Swing and rap, featuring his friends SPKS and MBrown.
Speaking to The Standard UK, Iwobi shared, “Music has always been a passion of mine and a way to express myself beyond football. It’s a powerful tool, and I’ve used it to share how I feel. No Premier League player has done this with their name and face, but I like to stand out.”

Growing up in a challenging part of London, Iwobi hopes to inspire others through his music, encouraging young people to pursue their dreams and channel their energy positively. “This doesn’t take away from my football; it helps me relax. I will always work hard to improve, but music is a positive use of my spare time.”

Since the release, fans have taken to social media with reactions. Miwan (@MichaelEJ) said, “There are some things you never expect to see—Iwobi rapping is one of them, but it’s amazing!” Fadel (@Anufadele) added, “This is a vibe, Iwobi. Let’s help push it.” Omolomo (@Omolomo_o) chimed in, “T-Pain economy has entered football! Time to pick up a camera.”

Some fans joked about his dual career. SIGMA-TEASE (@odukoyaisaac) said, “You can leave the Super Eagles midfield and focus on music; you’ll have 100% support!” While Swagberg commented, “Solid jam—perfect retirement plan.”
