The mishap, involving a car and motorcycle, occurred at about 10pm on Saturday at Idi Mango in Odigbo LGA.

An eyewitness said the driver was under the influence and was riding at full pelt. The car would then run into two persons on a motorcycle as the driver lost control of his vehicle.

“The driver ran away, having realised he had committed a crime,” the eyewitness said

“One of the victims died on the spot, while the other was taken to the hospital for treatment but later died.”

An angry mob subsequently set the car ablaze, according to the eyewitness.

The incident comes just hours after Ondo residents took to polling booths to elect a governor.
