Available information indicated that the explosion happened around 1pm on Wednesday about the time the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; and his Yobe counterpart, Mai Mala Buni, were commissioning housing estates in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.

A similar incident occurred on Tuesday but there are no details for the Tuesday explosion.

Dalwa is 175 kilometres from Maiduguri and is one of the many communities destroyed and displaced by the Boko Haram terrorists.

Zulum embarked on the reconstruction of the Dalwa community with two hundred houses.
