The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has extended an invitation to former President Olusegun Obasanjo to tour the Port Harcourt Refinery, following his recent comments questioning its operational capacity.

In a statement released on Thursday, NNPCL emphasized that the visit would allow Obasanjo to witness firsthand the progress and achievements recorded in the refinery’s rehabilitation process.

“We extend an invitation to our esteemed former president to join us in this historic journey. His wisdom and experience are invaluable, and we deeply appreciate his insights and guidance, which will always be welcomed and cherished,” the statement read.

The company highlighted that beyond routine maintenance, it had undertaken a comprehensive overhaul of the refinery to ensure optimal performance.

NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, reiterated that significant investments and efforts had been made to fully rehabilitate the facility, positioning it for sustainable operations.

Obasanjo’s potential visit is expected to provide clarity on the refinery’s current status and address lingering concerns about its operational efficiency.
