In a surprise move, former presidential spokesman Dr. Doyin Okupe has issued a public apology to Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), as Kyari marks his 60th birthday.

Okupe, who was once a vocal critic of NNPCL and its leadership, expressed admiration for Kyari’s remarkable achievements in transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Okupe acknowledged that he, along with others, had doubted NNPCL’s ability to deliver on its promises, but Kyari’s leadership has proven them wrong.

He cited the revival of Nigeria’s refineries, revitalization of critical infrastructure, and efforts to tackle long-standing issues in the petroleum industry as notable achievements.

The former presidential spokesman specifically commended the significant decrease in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at the pumps, which he attributed to NNPCL’s strategic initiatives.

This development, Okupe noted, has eased some of the economic burdens faced by Nigerians and deserves widespread recognition.

Okupe congratulated Kyari on his 60th birthday, praising his dedication, leadership, and achievements.

He expressed hope that Kyari’s efforts would continue to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians and wished him continued wisdom, strength, and success in his mission to ensure a more prosperous future for Nigeria.
