The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance for corps members, raising it from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.

This change is set to take effect in February 2025, once the 2025 Federal Government budget is passed.

NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, shared the news with the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on January 30.

Ahmed assured the corps members that their safety and security remain a top priority, and they will not be posted to communities with security threats.

This development comes amid ongoing discussions about youth empowerment and economic stability in Nigeria.

Many corps members have welcomed the news, expressing relief over the improved financial support during their service year.

Interestingly, this increase was previously announced in July 2024, following the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

However, it seems the implementation was delayed, and the new effective date is February 2025.
