An American citizen, Jarod Tyler Roberts, is set to be formally charged in a Kenyan court for possession of drugs after allegedly ingesting narcotics.
According to court documents, Roberts was admitted to MP Shah Hospital in Westlands, complaining of abdominal pain, and was placed under close observation with two police officers on guard.
Medical personnel retrieved three pellets from his rectum through an endoscopy procedure on February 18, and he expelled an additional pellet later that day.
The police are expected to conclude their investigation and formally charge him with possession of the recovered drugs.
This incident highlights the severity of drug laws in Kenya and the potential consequences for foreign nationals found in possession of narcotics.
If convicted, Roberts may face serious penalties, including imprisonment and deportation.
