Thirty-five lawmakers, including Speaker Mojisola Meranda, attended a court hearing at the Lagos State High Court regarding the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

Obasa had filed a case challenging his removal by at least 36 lawmakers on January 13, 2025, while he was out of the country.

Obasa’s lawyer, Chief Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), is contesting the legality of the action taken against him.

Meanwhile, Speaker Meranda is represented by a team of senior lawyers led by Professor Tayo Oyetibo (SAN).

The court has adjourned the case to March 7, 2025, for the hearing of all preliminary applications.

This development is the latest in the ongoing saga surrounding Obasa’s removal as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
