Former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and attributed the party’s losses in Kaduna State to the actions of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai. Sani, who represented Kaduna Central, claimed that el-Rufai’s refusal to reconcile with other party members led to significant losses for the APC in the state.

Sani’s return to the APC was facilitated by current Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, who reached out to him to mend fences.

Sani criticized el-Rufai, stating that he failed to unite the APC in Kaduna, resulting in the party’s defeat in the 2023 elections.

El-Rufai has recently distanced himself from the APC, criticizing the party for straying from its founding principles. Sani’s return to the APC is seen as a significant development in the state’s politics, particularly given his criticism of el-Rufai’s leadership.
