Nigeria’s Power Generation Reaches 5,713MW, Highest in Years

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the country’s power generation reached 5,713.60 megawatts (MW) on Tuesday, surpassing the 5,543.20 MW recorded on February 14.

Despite this milestone, TCN noted that Nigeria’s highest-ever power generation remains 5,801.60MW, achieved on March 1, 2021.

Additionally, the nation recorded its highest daily energy transmission, reaching 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh), exceeding the previous record of 125,159.48MWh from February 14, 2025, by 382.58MWh.

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, had pledged to increase power generation to 6,000MW by December 2024, but this target was not met due to challenges such as vandalism, grid collapses, and inadequate infrastructure.
