Arab leaders have endorsed Egypt’s post-war plan for the Gaza Strip, ensuring that Palestinians can remain on their land without displacement, according to media reports.

On Tuesday, the leaders approved the Egyptian roadmap, which would allow approximately 2 million Palestinians to stay in Gaza, countering a proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump that suggested relocating the population.

The $53 billion plan, supported by Arab nations at a summit in Cairo, effectively rejected Trump’s approach. Hamas welcomed the summit’s conclusions, while Israel opposed them, and the Trump administration offered a lukewarm response.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi expressed gratitude for the unified Arab stance, stating: “The consensus among Arab countries to support the reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip ensures that the Palestinian people can remain on their land without displacement.”

The plan follows a joint assessment by the United Nations, the European Union, and the World Bank, which estimated that rebuilding Gaza after 15 months of war would require over $53 billion. The report outlined that $20 billion would be needed in the first three years, with full reconstruction taking a decade.

Trump had previously argued that Gaza was no longer habitable in its current condition and suggested relocating Palestinians to countries like Egypt or Jordan before rebuilding the territory. However, his plan was met with firm opposition from Arab nations.
