Dr. Adedoyin Ajibike Okupe, born on March 22, 1952, in Iperu, Ogun State, is a Nigerian physician and politician. He studied medicine and co-founded the Royal Cross Medical Centre, balancing a career in both healthcare and politics. Over the years, he became a well-known figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, serving in various capacities.

Okupe started his political journey as the National Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC). He later served as President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity and was appointed President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs. His experience in media and public communication made him a key strategist in Nigerian politics.

In 2022, Okupe briefly served as the Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate, later stepping down to become the Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign. His role in Obi’s campaign brought him back into the political spotlight as a key figure in the 2023 elections. However, his involvement was short-lived due to legal troubles.

In December 2022, Okupe was convicted of money laundering and sentenced to two years in prison. Following his conviction, he resigned as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s Campaign. Despite this setback, he remains an influential personality in Nigerian politics, known for his expertise in media affairs and public relations.

On March 7th, 2025, he was pronounced dead after he had been critically ill.
