Two soldiers were injured during a bandit attack on a military base in Tegina, located in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

The assault, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, also resulted in the death of a bandit leader. The incident occurred during a gunfight between the soldiers and the bandits. According to reports, the bandits were allegedly crossing towards Mashegu and Wushishi local government areas to rustle cattle when they encountered the soldiers.

Ayuba Katako, Chairman of Rafi Local Government, confirmed in a phone interview from Minna that the two injured soldiers are receiving treatment at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna. He also confirmed the death of one of the bandits, who is believed to have been their leader.

Katako commended the efforts of the military, police, and vigilantes in maintaining peace and security in the state, despite the ongoing attacks on security personnel. He called for patience, support, and prayers to help overcome the insecurity challenges facing Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.
