Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic flights for 90 days on January 29, 2025, after a series of operational incidents. The NCAA welcomed the decision and subsequently conducted a comprehensive review of the airline’s safety and economic standing.

According to Achimugu, the safety audit was carried out from February 26 to 28, 2025, involving a thorough assessment of Max Air’s organization, procedures, personnel, and aircraft in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.

“Given the results of the audit, which confirm Max Air’s capacity to sustain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement read.

The NCAA emphasized that it will maintain close monitoring of Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure strict compliance with aviation safety regulations.
