At least 17 people have been killed in attacks by suspected cattle herders on communities in central Nigeria’s Benue State.
The attacks occurred in two separate areas, with 12 people killed in Logo local council area and five farmers shot dead in Gbagir, Benue’s Ukum Local Government Area.
The violence is part of a longstanding conflict between farmers and herders in the region, which has claimed over 500 lives and displaced 2.2 million people since 2019.
