The Labour Party’s caretaker committee, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has launched an investigation into former national chairman Julius Abure over allegations of misconduct, including corruption, misappropriation of party funds, and anti-party activities.
Abure is accused of parading himself as chairman despite being removed and running the party for personal gain.
A disciplinary panel, chaired by Senator Ireti Kingibe, has been set up to probe the allegations and recommend disciplinary measures.
Abure has been summoned to appear before the panel to respond to petitions and charges against him.
The committee also plans to restore internal democracy by conducting proper congresses and electing national executives.
This move comes after Abure’s faction set up a disciplinary committee to investigate allegations of anti-party activities against Abia State Governor Alex Otti and other members.
