The Peoples Democratic Party has established a committee headed by former Senate President Bukola Saraki to reconcile aggrieved members ahead of its National Executive Committee meeting.
This move aims to address the party’s internal crises, which have been ongoing since the 2023 general elections and worsened by recent defections, including Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and three Kebbi lawmakers to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The committee’s formation comes after a meeting attended by PDP governors and former governors, including Nyesom Wike, at the Abuja lodge of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
The meeting sought to tap into the experiences of former governors to resolve internal challenges and prepare for a rancour-free NEC meeting and national convention later this year.
Governor Mohammed expressed confidence that the defections would ultimately make the party stronger and revealed plans to strategize to reclaim some states where they have governors.
