Former Adamawa governor Jibrilla Bindow is officially back in the All Progressives Congress.
Bindow completed his re-registration on Sunday at his ward in Mubi, Adamawa. It marks his return to the ruling party more than three years after he resigned in January 2023 following the loss of the APC governorship ticket.
Speaking after the re-registration, Bindow said the move came after wide consultations with political associates. He said he has always believed in party discipline and never wanted to be seen working against the party.
He also disclosed that he consulted Vice President Kashim Shettima, whom he called a brother and confidant. Bindow added that a recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was “pleasant and memorable.”
The former governor said his return is not about personal ambition or internal fights. According to him, it is about strengthening the APC and helping it win in 2027.
“I am back to the APC not to divide, but to contribute; not to fight, but to build; and above all, to work with the party and its candidates toward victory,” he said.
Bindow had earlier shown interest in running for Adamawa governor in 2027 under the African Democratic Congress, but he pulled out of that race in May.
With his return, Bindow says he will now focus on supporting APC candidates in Adamawa and mobilizing for the party ahead of the next general elections.
