The Benue State Police Command has confirmed that a final-year student of Kwararafa University, Ahenjir Emmanuella, was killed by a stray bullet from a policeman during a stop-and-search operation in Makurdi.

The incident occurred on Friday around Wurukum roundabout, when police personnel opened fire on a commercial vehicle, resulting in Emmanuella’s death.

Friends and family of the deceased had accused the police of shooting the student dead, demanding justice and an immediate investigation into the matter.
