The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pulled out of all reconciliation agreements within the Peoples Democratic Party, accusing key party leaders of betrayal, dishonesty, and serial violations of mutual understandings.

Wike blamed Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for sabotaging reconciliation efforts, citing non-adherence to agreements reached and describing him as the “architect of our problems.”

According to Wike, several meetings were held to resolve internal party disputes, including a meeting of the G5 group in Lagos and a broader meeting in Abuja at Senator Bukola Saraki’s guest house.

However, agreements reached during these meetings were quickly and brazenly violated, leading to Wike’s decision to withdraw from the reconciliation process.

Wike specifically cited the party’s failure to recognize Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, despite a Supreme Court judgment, and the use of a Deputy National Secretary to call for a National Executive Committee meeting, which he described as “in complete violation of the agreements reached.”

He also accused Makinde of conniving with Peter Mba of Enugu State to orchestrate a meeting of South-East leaders to recommend the adoption of Ude Okoye as Secretary.

Wike expressed dismay that those he helped rise to political prominence had turned against him, and declared that he had lost faith in the trust and camaraderie that once existed among party stakeholders.

He stated that he would no longer participate in any further reconciliation deals and would fight on until justice is attained.
