Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has emphasized that Nigeria’s primary objective in their upcoming friendly matches against Cameroon tomorrow May 31st, is to build team chemistry and cohesion ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Nigerian women’s national team will return to action this week for the first time since their narrow 2-1 loss to France in November 2024. The two-legged encounter against Cameroon begins on Saturday, May 31, with the return fixture set for three days later.
Speaking ahead of the matches, Ajibade revealed that the games are more about development than results.
“Right now, it’s just a training camp,” the Atletico Madrid forward said. “It’s about getting to know who we have in the squad. The most important thing is to build the team and prepare ahead of the tournament.”

The matches will also give new head coach Justin Madugu a chance to assess his squad, which features several fresh faces looking to make their mark.
Following the clashes with Cameroon, the Super Falcons will face Portugal in a friendly match in June — their final outing before WAFCON kicks off.
