Turkish champions Galatasaray have reportedly given Victor Osimhen a final deadline to decide on his future, as frustration grows within the club’s hierarchy over the striker’s continued indecision regarding a permanent move to Istanbul.

Osimhen, who enjoyed a sensational loan spell with Galatasaray during the 2024/25 season—playing a pivotal role in their domestic double—has yet to give a clear response to the club’s offer of a long-term contract. According to reports in the Turkish media, Galatasaray and Napoli have already reached an agreement on the transfer fee, but the deal remains in limbo pending Osimhen’s approval.

Speaking on the matter, club vice president Abdullah Kavukcu acknowledged the club’s admiration for the Nigerian forward but admitted their patience is wearing thin.

“Victor Osimhen is our market priority,” Kavukcu said. “But there is also an end to our time.”

The uncertainty has begun to strain Osimhen’s relationship with Galatasaray’s management and fanbase, despite the hero status he attained during his loan. His goals not only powered Galatasaray to league and cup glory, but also won the hearts of supporters, who embraced him as one of their own.

Yet, the 26-year-old’s silence and reluctance to commit have sparked speculation. Critics say his approach this summer lacks clarity—not just in rejecting options, but also in articulating a clear vision for his future.

While Osimhen is widely believed to have ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia, persistent interest from Al Hilal suggests that the door has not been completely shut, raising doubts about the firmness of his stance. Similarly, his ambiguous communication with Galatasaray has created the impression that he is keeping his options open, potentially at the club’s expense.

What makes this situation more delicate is the emotional bond between Osimhen and the Galatasaray faithful. The fans saw him not just as a star striker but as a symbol of the club’s resurgence. His passion, goals, and personality made him an instant icon. They defended him at every turn and celebrated his brilliance throughout the season.

However, even that goodwill has its limits. Supporters, proud and passionate, are starting to feel that Osimhen’s lack of commitment is disrespectful—not necessarily because he may choose to leave, but because of the lack of transparency and closure.

There is also the sense of déjà vu. Should he walk away without properly addressing the club and its supporters, it would mirror his Napoli exit, where he departed under similar circumstances—leaving behind a legacy tinged with what-ifs and disappointment.

Ultimately, Galatasaray may understand that a talent like Osimhen is destined for bigger leagues. But without a proper farewell or firm decision, the risk grows that what was once a historic campaign could end on a bitter note, overshadowing everything he achieved in Istanbul.
