Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, has said the club may still retain star forward Bryan Mbeumo next season despite ongoing transfer interest from Manchester United.

United have reportedly submitted two offers for the 25-year-old Cameroon international, with the latest bid reaching up to £62.5 million. Mbeumo is said to be eager to make the move to Old Trafford and has informed Brentford of his intentions.

Speaking to the media, Giles acknowledged the growing interest in Mbeumo but stressed that the club would only consider a sale under the right conditions.

“He had a fantastic season. We expected big interest in him, and we’ve had it,” Giles said. “He has ideas about where he wants to take his career, and he’s entitled to that. But it’s not impossible that he remains a Brentford player next season if we reach an agreement for him to stay.”

Giles emphasized Brentford’s stance on transfers, stating that the club wouldn’t be pressured into a deal that doesn’t meet their valuation. “If it’s not the right deal, why would we do it? He’s one of our best players—arguably the best—and there’s no harm in keeping your best players,” he added.

In another development, Giles confirmed that talks are progressing with Arsenal for the potential transfer of Brentford captain Christian Norgaard. Both clubs are believed to have agreed on a deal worth up to £15 million including add-ons for the Denmark international.

“We’ve been in discussions with Arsenal for about 7 to 10 days,” Giles revealed. “It’s not done yet, but it’s heading in that direction. If it happens, then great—he’s earned it. He’s been a fantastic captain for us.”
