The Lagos State Youth Parliament (5th Assembly), in partnership with UNICEF Nigeria, Generation Unlimited 9ja, and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, proudly announces the launch of the Yoma Youth Champions Training, a bold step toward investing in youth leadership, innovation, and community development in Lagos State.
The training, which is scheduled to hold on Friday, 4th July 2025, at the State Treasure Office Resource Centre, CBD, Alausa, is an outcome of strategic collaboration initiated by the Lagos State Youth Parliament to bring global youth development frameworks closer to grassroots implementation.
Speaking on this milestone, a representative of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Maria Itunuoluwa Soniregun (Speaker, Lagos State Youth Parliament), emphasized the importance of building a generation of Lagos youths who are not only job-ready but community-focused and socially responsible.
“Through Yoma and with the support of UNICEF, we are bringing international tools to local youths — from digital skills and civic participation to innovation and social impact. This Parliament remains committed to connecting opportunities to the very communities that need them most,” Rt. Hon. Maria stated.
The Yoma Youth Champions Training will equip selected participants with relevant skills, access to social impact platforms, and pathways to become ambassadors of change within their constituencies and divisions. The event is expected to draw youth leaders from all LGAs and LCDAs across the state.
Also supporting this initiative is the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, a key factor committed to deepening youth participation in governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
As youth unemployment, social disconnection, and lack of access to innovation continue to challenge progress, this training stands as a symbol of what can be achieved through collaboration between institutions and youth-led bodies like the Lagos State Youth Parliament.
