Birmingham City have completed the signing of Nigeria international Bright Osayi-Samuel on a three-year contract following the expiration of his deal with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The 27-year-old versatile full-back, who can also operate as a wing-back or winger, joins the Blues as their fourth signing in a busy transfer week. He follows the arrivals of Demarai Gray, Tommy Doyle, and goalkeeper James Beadle, as the club gears up for life in the Championship after winning the League One title last season.

Osayi-Samuel brings a wealth of experience, having made 178 appearances during his four-and-a-half-year stint at Fenerbahce. He joined the Istanbul-based club from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021 and was a key figure during his time in Turkey.

On the international stage, he has earned 22 caps for Nigeria since making his debut in 2022 and featured prominently in the Super Eagles squad that finished runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

“I want to play in the Premier League and show everyone what I can do,” Osayi-Samuel told the club’s official website. “Coming to Birmingham City now is another step for me—an opportunity to show everyone where I’ve been for the last four years.”

Born in Nigeria and raised in England, Osayi-Samuel began his professional career with Blackpool, debuting at just 17. He was part of the Seasiders’ promotion-winning side from League Two in 2017. Later that year, he moved to QPR, where he amassed 103 Championship appearances before heading to Turkey.

Now, with a return to English football, Osayi-Samuel is set to play a key role in Birmingham City’s push for promotion.
