Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violence and breaches of peace in parts of the area.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Yola, the state capital, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said the curfew takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further notice.

“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” the statement read.
Fintiri warned that any individual or group found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He urged residents of Lamurde to comply with the curfew, avoid spreading rumours, and support security agencies with useful information to restore calm.
“The government will not condone acts of violence and will take every necessary measure to restore peace and protect lives and property,” he stated.
Fintiri reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to safety, law, and order across all communities in the state.
