According to the statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda declared the public holiday to allow residents and workers across the state to mourn the late statesman and offer prayers for his peaceful repose.

Governor Radda extended his condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and Nigerians at large, describing the late president as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was dedicated to the service of Nigeria.”

He prayed for Allah to grant the late president eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Further details about the burial arrangements are expected to be announced soon. President Buhari, who hailed from Daura in Katsina State, died at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness.
