Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine and former presidential candidate, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s hijack by anti-democratic forces.
In a letter dated July 17, Momodu stated that the party has been unarguably hijacked by anti-democratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.
He announced his intention to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the platform adopted by opposition coalition politicians to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Momodu’s resignation comes hours after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar dumped the PDP, saying the party has strayed from its founding ideals.
As a staunch supporter of Abubakar, Momodu’s decision aligns with his previous statements criticizing the PDP’s internal crisis and hinting at a potential departure.
