Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo has completed a high-profile transfer to Manchester United from Brentford, signing a contract until 2030 with the option of a further year, the club announced on Monday.
The 25-year-old winger, who netted 20 Premier League goals last season, joins the Red Devils for a reported initial fee of £65 million, with an additional £6 million in performance-based add-ons. His arrival marks Ruben Amorim’s third signing of the summer, as United seek to rebuild following a disappointing 2024–25 campaign.
Mbeumo expressed his excitement at joining the 20-time English champions, revealing he had long supported the club. “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams,” he said. “The team whose shirt I wore growing up. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans. We are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”
Under new head coach Ruben Amorim, Manchester United are determined to avoid a repeat of last season, which saw them finish 15th in the league—their worst league position since 1973–74 and lose the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.
Alongside Mbeumo, United have also added Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Diego Leon, a teenage defender from Paraguay. “We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour,” said Jason Wilcox, United’s Director of Football. “The experience in the U.S. will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”
Mbeumo’s arrival comes amid struggles in United’s attacking department last season, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to consistently deliver. Amorim is hopeful the Cameroonian forward’s versatility and work ethic will elevate the team’s frontline.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday,” Mbeumo said.“I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
Bryan Mbeumo joins his fellow Cameroonian, Andre Onana at the Club.
