Two residents of Kano State, Buhari Abdullahi and Umar Mukhtar Usman, have been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for falsely parading themselves as investigators of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The duo was arraigned on a one-count charge for using forged EFCC identity cards to lend credibility to their fraudulent impersonation.
Upon arraignment, the defendants pleaded guilty, and the prosecution counsel urged the court to convict them accordingly.
Justice Nasiru Saminu of the Kano State High Court convicted and sentenced them to six months’ imprisonment with an option of a fine of ₦50,000 each.
The EFCC had arrested the pair for impersonating its investigators, and they were subsequently charged to court and jailed.
