Nigeria’s Super Falcons have had four standout players—Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, and Chiamaka Nnadozie—named in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Best XI.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the tournament’s Best XI on Monday, with the list compiled by the competition’s Technical Study Group in recognition of the players’ outstanding performances during the tournament in Morocco.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was one of the stars of the tournament, keeping four clean sheets and playing a key role in Nigeria’s title-winning run. The 24-year-old was also named the Best Goalkeeper of Morocco 2024.

Defender Michelle Alozie, who plays for Houston Dash in the U.S., was named the Best Right-Back of the tournament. She featured in five matches for the Super Falcons, showcasing her defensive prowess and consistency throughout the campaign.

Esther Okoronkwo was another key contributor to Nigeria’s success. The AFC Toronto forward scored two goals and provided six assists across six matches. Her impactful performances also earned her two Woman of the Match awards.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade led from the front, registering one goal and two assists. The forward was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and collected three Woman of the Match awards, further underlining her leadership and influence on the pitch.

The WAFCON Best XI also features three players from runners-up South Africa: Karabo Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, and Refiloe Jane.

Tournament hosts Morocco contributed two players to the selection—Ghizlane Chebbak and Ibtissam Jraidi—while Ghana’s Black Queens also had two representatives: Portia Boakye and Grace Asantewaa.

The Super Falcons clinched a record-extending 10th WAFCON title after defeating Morocco 3–2 in a thrilling final in Rabat.
