President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred National Honours (Officer of the Order of the Niger-OON) on the Super Falcons of Nigeria after their recent 10th WAFCON Title Triumph over Morocco on Saturday.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Monday welcomed Nigeria’s Super Falcons to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, celebrating their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The President also awarded the team 3-bedroom apartments to each of the players/technical team, Cash reward of $100,000 to each of the players, Cash reward of $50,000 to each member of the technical crew.

The African champions arrived at the Presidential Banquet Hall shortly before 4:36 p.m., conveyed in coaster buses, where they were received by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, ahead of a formal reception with the President and First Lady.

The reception comes just two days after the Super Falcons staged a sensational 3–2 comeback win over host nation Morocco in the WAFCON final, claiming a record-extending 10th continental title.

In a video call with the team shortly after their win on Saturday night, President Tinubu had praised team captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade for her leadership and composure. He also lauded the team’s determination in overturning a 2–0 half-time deficit to secure the title.

“You lifted the spirit of the entire nation. The fightback was extraordinary, and we are all proud of you,” Tinubu said during the call.

The latest WAFCON triumph adds to Nigeria’s impressive record in the competition, with titles now secured in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024—solidifying their status as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
