Canada and Egypt have reinforced their diplomatic ties, marked by 70 years of friendly partnership, through enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, peacekeeping, and cultural exchange, with Canada investing over $1 billion in Egypt over the past 40 years to support sustainable growth and education, while also pledging significant funding for flagship initiatives and projects in Africa focusing on peace and security, good governance, and strengthened people-to-people ties.

The two countries aim to increase trade and investment, with Canada’s merchandise trade with African countries totaling $15.1 billion in 2024, and have agreed to enhance cooperation, including waiving the requirement of prior-entry visas for Canadian citizens traveling to Egypt.
