Suspected Fulani herdsmen have launched a deadly attack on Ipelle Village in Benue State’s Agatu Local Government Area, killing a police inspector and a civilian.

The attack occurred on Tuesday evening when armed assailants stormed the village and opened fire on residents, causing chaos and panic.

The victims included Inspector Daniel Omanyebu, attached to the Ipelle police outpost, and an unidentified civilian who was shot dead during the assault.

Authorities have recovered the body of the slain officer and are working to apprehend those responsible.

Residents have called for enhanced security presence in Agatu and other vulnerable communities in Benue State due to repeated attacks in recent months.
