Nigeria’s D’Tigers continued their impressive start to the 2025 FIBA Men’s Afrobasket with a commanding 87–66 victory over defending champions Tunisia in Luanda, Angola, on Friday.

Playing at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda, the Nigerian side displayed authority from the opening tip, building on the momentum from their opening-day win over Madagascar.

Josh Okogie, Houston Rockets shooting guard, stole the spotlight with a career-high 33 points, spearheading Nigeria’s offensive masterclass.

The D’Tigers raced to a 29–16 lead by the end of the first quarter, maintaining their relentless pace in the second to head into halftime comfortably ahead at 48–33. Tunisia struggled to find answers as Nigeria extended the gap to 68–47 by the close of the third quarter.

Although Tunisia attempted a late push in the final period, the deficit proved insurmountable, and Nigeria sealed a convincing 21-point triumph.

The result leaves D’Tigers unbeaten in Group play, with their final fixture against Cameroon scheduled for Sunday.

Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team have lifted the Afrobasket title only once, in 2015, but have been runners-up on three occasions. With two wins from two in Angola, they are signalling a strong intent to challenge for the crown again.
